As a director I could have benefited from learning more about business practices particularly financial reports and internal controls. I must admit when reviewing the job description, I wasn’t very experienced with some of the financial terms. While I had some previous marketing and recruitment experience, I had only budgeted my own household. Looking back, I wish I had some type of training to enhance my prior knowledge in strengthening business practices. Well, if you feel the same way, take a look at a new training opportunity for childcare programs. It’s called Strengthening Business Practices and it’s designed just for you.

There are two versions of the series being offered: one for center-based childcare providers and one for family childcare providers. These sessions are offered virtually to meet your needs. We have three-to-four-week sessions scheduled for mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends. These sessions offer a wide range of topics including budgets, projections, planning, financial reports, internal controls, marketing, recruitment and retention for staff and children plus a whole lot more.

During the sessions you will learn a process for creating a budget and how to use it for decision-making throughout the year. You will also gain an understanding on how to project business costs, generate additional income, and plan strategically for future goals. It does not matter if your program is large, small or in a home setting; these sessions are designed specifically for you and does not require any other formal training. We have held sessions with folks just like you!

If working with children, is your passion and running a business is not, consider taking advantage of this opportunity. Keep in mind that sound fiscal practices, and strong businesses equal quality care for children.
