We’re adding a new blog feature where we spotlight a member of the Pennsylvania Program Quality Assessment team each month. Have fun getting to know our team!
Beth Simon
M.Ed., Centre County, betsim@pakeys.org
Background
I received my Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) from Penn State University and my Masters of Education in Teaching and Learning from Lock Haven University. I have been in the early childhood education field for over 20 years.
Experience
In 2003 I became a STARS Manager in the Central Region, where I assisted providers in accessing grant money, meeting Keystone STARS standards, and designating programs. I have been a Program Quality Assessor with the PA Key since 2007. I particularly love making connections with providers during professional development, writing for the Let’s Talk Quality in PA! blog, and supporting providers through the assessment process.
Fun Fact
I am married to my husband, Scott, and have a Westie named Murphy. We are both alumni, so we are diehard, bleed blue & white Penn State fans. In my spare time I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching true crime, trail running/hiking, and traveling to new places. I have two beautiful nieces who are the absolute loves of my life. My favorite movie is It’s a Wonderful Life and my go-to TV show is Friends, but currently I can’t get enough of Ted Lasso. Fun fact: My birthday is St. Patrick’s Day
